Steve, an American physician, arrives at Pohang airport with his 13-year-old daughter Barbie. Mang-taek welcomes and takes them in his old car to his brother Mang-woo’s house. In Mang-woo’s house, Steve watches Soon-young, a 13-year-old girl, Soon-young is the practical supporter of the family as she takes care of Soon-ja, her younger sister and Mang-woo, her mentally disabled father. Steve has come to Pohang to adopt Soon-young into his family. Soon-young can’t accept the fact that a stranger is now going to be her father. All this is Mang-taek’s scheme to make a huge sum of money by sending Soon-young to the U.S.
